Floyd Mayweather is proving his “Money” nickname yet again, gifting his three-year-old grandson, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden Jr., an extraordinary Christmas present—property in New York City’s famed Diamond District.
In a heartwarming moment captured on video, the undefeated boxing legend revealed the unique gift to Kentrell, who is the son of Mayweather’s daughter Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather and rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again.
“I got you a gift. Guess what I bought you?” Mayweather said as his grandson looked on curiously. “You’re the first kid to own a building in the Diamond District in New York City. Papa bought you a building,” he added proudly, as cheers erupted in the background.
While Kentrell seemed a bit too young to grasp the magnitude of the gift, he showed his appreciation with a sweet hug for his grandfather.
A Complex Family History
Kentrell, born in January 2021, is the only child shared by Yaya and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, also known as NBA YoungBoy. The pair, who first started dating in 2018, had their fair share of ups and downs during their time together.
Their tumultuous relationship made headlines in 2020 when Yaya was arrested after an altercation at YoungBoy’s home, where she stabbed his ex-girlfriend, Lapattra Lashai Jacobs. Despite the drama, both have since moved on from their rocky past.
Yaya and YoungBoy’s connection also inspired the Baton Rouge rapper’s viral flip of Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana,” titled “Dirty Iyanna,” released in 2019.
Floyd Mayweather’s Support for YoungBoy
Despite the rocky relationship between Yaya and YoungBoy, Mayweather has remained supportive of the rapper. In a 2022 interview on The Pivot podcast, the boxing icon praised YoungBoy’s talent and work ethic.
“I’m proud of NBA YoungBoy,” Mayweather said. “Very, very talented young kid. One of the biggest artists in music. He’s got a cult-like following. I look at him just like one of my sons. I only want the best for him and I don’t want him having beef with anyone.”
YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s Growing Family
NBA YoungBoy, who tied the knot with Jazlyn Mychelle nearly two years ago, has a large family with 10 children, including three-year-old Kentrell. His youngest, daughter Alice and son Klemenza Tru, are from his marriage to Jazlyn.
