SZA Plans to Create Kids’ Songs to Complete Record Deal

The R&B sensation is eyeing a young crowd for her upcoming pair of albums.

This past Saturday, the TDE star jumped on X to share her plans about wrapping up her label commitments with some family-friendly songs.

“To fulfill my last 2 album requirements I think I just wanna make peaceful children’s music n get outta here,” shared SZA, who’s already got four Grammys under her belt. She added that she’s dreaming of trading in the mic for a life in agriculture, wanting to “go be a farmer n donate the produce to underserved communities.”

The hit singer already got a taste of the kids’ entertainment world when she popped up on PBS’s Sesame Street back in March. Given that experience, her shift to making music for little ones should come pretty naturally.

The R&B star celebrated her Sesame Street appearance by digging up an old tweet from 2017, where she’d put it out into the universe that she wanted to be on the show. She shared it again after her dream finally came true.

“GODS TIMING !!!” SZA posted excitedly. “FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND SAY THEM OUTLOUD !!NEVER GIVE UP !! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE I BELIEVE IN YOU !!”

Back in 2022, SZA opened up to Complex’s Aria Hughes about her desire to become a mom in the near future, whether she’s in a relationship or not.

“And it’s not even like I’m trying to do anything that’s groundbreaking or nontraditional or like, modern woman,” the singer explained. “I just literally feel like it’s less stressful to think about like, ‘Who’s it gonna be? Are they trustworthy? Is this person going to really love me? Is this partner material?’ Versus being like, OK, this is the doctor I know I want to deliver my kids.”

Before dropping her next project, SZA’s hitting the road with Kendrick Lamar for their huge 23-city Grand National Tour. The shows kick off April 19 in Minneapolis and wrap up June 18 in Landover, Maryland, with the two stars sharing headlining duties.
