Ellen DeGeneres’ former DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’s widow Allison Holker is pushing back against claims that she’s exploiting his memory.
Just over two years after Boss’s death by suicide, Holker, who was married to him from 2013 until 2022, told People she’s dropping a memoir called This Far on February 4. In her cover interview, the mom of three revealed she discovered a stash of drugs including mushrooms and pills that Boss, who was 40, had hidden away.
“Finding those things in our closet really shook me because I had no idea they were there,” Holker said about Boss’s apparent drug use.
She added that her late husband chose to “self-medicate and cope” with depression “because he didn’t want to burden anyone – that’s how much he loved everyone.”
In a People video clip, Holker mentioned focusing on supporting their kids, family, friends and fans, while putting her own healing on hold.
But Kelly Gibson, a fitness trainer who’d appeared on Ellen, called her out on Instagram: “This whole situation breaks my heart,” Gibson wrote. “He’s not here to defend himself. Why damage his reputation? I supported you moving forward and finding happiness but getting paid to trash his name wasn’t worth it.”
“I’ll always care about you,” Holker replied to Gibson. “I’m just hoping to encourage others to reach out when they need help and support.”
On X (previously Twitter), Boss’s cousin Darielle fired back at Holker, claiming she made family members sign NDAs just to attend the funeral.
“She’s been working to ruin his reputation and won’t let the Boss family have any contact with the kids. Now she’s exploiting and LYING about my cousin. No way,” Darielle posted.
Holker and Boss shared a family of three kids: 16-year-old Weslie Fowler (from Holker’s previous relationship), plus Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5. Word is Holker started dating tech executive Adam Edmunds sometime last year.
