Kid Cudi joins the thousands of Southern Californians forced to leave their homes as wildfires tear through the area.
As devastating images emerge from the region – even causing several awards shows to postpone their events out of respect for those affected – Cudi updated fans on his situation Wednesday night while warning others to take evacuation orders seriously.
“Had to evacuate my crib,” the artist shared on Instagram Stories. “I’m safe with my loved ones. Dogs are safe. For all the folks who lost their homes, people that are dealing with this, my heart hurts for you and I’m praying for us all and I send ALL my love to you and yours. If you have to evacuate, get out immediately. Don’t hesitate. Be safe, L.A. Love you guys.”
California State Parks officials confirmed Wednesday that the Palisades Fire destroyed several historic sites and buildings. State Parks Director Armando Quintero announced they’re throwing everything they’ve got at fighting the fires.
“We’re focused first and foremost on keeping the public, our staff, and firefighters safe,” Quintero said.
The AP reported Thursday morning that the death toll has hit five, with a new fire breaking out Wednesday night in the Hollywood Hills adding to the destruction.
The White House says President Biden’s getting constant updates on Southern California’s situation, and FEMA’s Deanne Criswell is heading to California this week. Biden’s approved a Major Disaster declaration, which means impacted residents can access federal money and resources for recovery.
