Rolling Loud Co-Founder Says Drake’s Been Avoiding Their Headline Offers

Tariq Cherif is calling out Drake for turning down some sweet deals to top the Rolling Loud bill.

During a chat on Big Boy’s Neighborhood promoting Rolling Loud LA, Cherif – who started the festival back in 2015 with Matt Zingler – got real when Big Boy asked if there’s anyone they still haven’t booked.

“You know what? I’m just gonna say it,” Cherif declared. “I feel like Drake’s ducking us.”

“No hate towards Drake,” he explained. “I’m a fan, he’s incredible. We’ve been trying to get him forever. We even offered him three straight nights as headliner once. They said ‘Make it special,’ so we were like, ‘Alright, three full nights of Drake.'”

Cherif mentioned some festival in Europe pulled off something similar, though he kept that name to himself.

While Drake’s hit up plenty of festivals over the years – Dreamville Fest, Camp Flog Gnaw (which didn’t go so well), and his own OVO Fest – Cherif’s been vocal about wanting to book him at Rolling Loud.

During a Power 106 LA interview last October, Tariq named his dream Rolling Loud lineup: Drake, Jay-Z, Eminem, Bad Bunny, and Peso Pluma. Pluma will actually be co-headlining Rolling Loud LA this March alongside A$AP Rocky and Playboi Carti.

Around 10:40 in the video, Tariq mentioned setting up a private Rolling Loud stream for Drake, who supports the festival and promised to “one day make it work” for a show.

Owen Wilson and Matt Rife have signed on for a movie called Rolling Loud that’ll be set at the famous hip-hop festival, which just marked its 10th year in Miami this past December.
