Tom Brady Said to Be Backing Bill Belichick as Raiders’ Next Coach

Brady appears to be eyeing a reunion with his old Patriots coach Bill Belichick.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that Raiders minority owner Brady has been talking with Belichick about becoming the team’s head coach. Belichick, who led Brady to seven Super Bowl rings during their New England days, has caught interest from several NFL teams despite recently signing a five-year deal to coach North Carolina’s Tar Heels football program.

The Raiders just cut ties with head coach Antonio Pierce on Tuesday, Jan. 7 after a rough first season. During Brady’s run with the Patriots (2000-2019), he and Belichick snagged six Super Bowl victories together. Word is Brady thinks the Raiders need someone with Belichick’s proven track record. While Belichick’s UNC contract includes a $10 million buyout, that only applies if he leaves before June 1, 2025.

Other teams hunting for head coaches include the Jets, Bears, Jaguars, Saints, and ironically, the Patriots. The Cowboys might also need someone new when Mike McCarthy’s contract wraps up Jan. 14.

Brady bought into the Raiders as a minority owner in 2023. He’s also got a sweet deal with FOX Sports – a 10-year, $375 million contract as an NFL analyst.
