Listen to Mac Miller’s Hidden Gem “5 Dollar Pony Rides” Now Available

An old Mac Miller track from 2014 has dropped in its complete form.

“5 Dollar Pony Rides,” which previously leaked online with poor sound quality five years back, got its official release Thursday (January 9). The track’s dropping ahead of Mac’s upcoming posthumous project Balloonerism, set to hit streaming January 17.

“5 Dollar Pony Rides” came together with Mac’s production as ‘Larry Fisherman,’ plus Thundercat and his brothers – Ronald Bruner Jr. and former The Internet member Kintaro.

Following Circles by five years, Balloonerism marks Mac’s second album since we lost him to an overdose at age 26.

Mac’s 11-song Balloonerism includes SZA on “DJ’s Chord Organ,” likely recorded back when he produced “Ur” and “Warm Winds” for her 2014 tape Z.

“This project really shows off Mac’s musical genius and his guts as an artist,” his family said last year. “With unofficial copies already out there for years, and knowing how badly Malcolm wanted Balloonerism released, we felt it was time to drop the real version.”

They unveiled the album at Camp Flog Gnaw last year, three years after it was first mentioned in The Book of Mac: Remembering Mac Miller.
