The This Is Us star returned to his neighborhood with CBS Evening News to see the aftermath of the fires that destroyed his and nearby homes. He had evacuated earlier with his heavily pregnant wife Jarah Mariano and their dog on Tuesday.
Looking at his burned-down home, all Ventimiglia could say was “Heavy.”
“The memories hit you, then you see your neighbors’ places all destroyed – it just breaks your heart,” he shared.
The 47-year-old, who played Jack Pearson in This Is Us, noted the irony of his character’s house burning down in the show. “The connection isn’t lost on me – life copying the show,” he said. “We’ll get through this.”
Besides This Is Us, Milo’s also famous for his role as Jess Mariano in Gilmore Girls.
TMZ reports other stars lost homes too: Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, Anna Faris, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Jhené Aiko, and Jeff Bridges. The fire, starting Tuesday morning in Pacific Palisades near Malibu, has claimed at least 10 lives.
