DDG’s taking quick action as LA wildfires rage nearby.
During his Twitch stream on Thursday (Jan. 9), the rapper-turned-content creator revealed he got an evacuation warning and was scrambling to get his mansion covered.
“Just found out today I don’t have fire insurance,” he admitted about 5:30 into his stream. “So I’m trying to sort that out because if my place burns down, that’s straight losses. Need to get this insurance stuff figured out for my house quick, cause without fire coverage, it’s game over. Just gonna have to take that L and I’m not trying to go out like that.”
Over on his YouTube where he shared a clip from his stream, he kept it real. “If it comes this way and I’m insured, whatever,” he said around 1:45 into the video. “But if it hits and I’m not covered, y’all better get ready for a nine-year subathon.”
The influencer cracked jokes about giving his baby boy Halo, who he had with Halle Bailey, “his own phone” to start making content.
While reassuring his fans he’d be fine, DDG couldn’t hide his stress about seeing the flames from his window at his place, which the 26-year-old calls home.
“If I’m insured, we’re all good. Happy days. No worries, let it burn. Do your thing, Mr. Fire. But without insurance? Man, I’m gonna be heated.”
DDG mentioned he was planning to sell the mansion anyway, adding that as long as he makes it out alive, he can bounce back.
The LA wildfires have been tearing through Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Ventura for five days now, claiming celebs’ homes like Jhené Aiko, Tina Knowles and Milo Ventimiglia. The destruction’s claimed eleven lives so far and burned through at least 38,000 acres.
