Cam’ron went in on Jim Jones during the newest drop of It Is What It Is.
Fresh off Monday morning’s show, Cam and his co-hosts Mase and Stat Baby kicked things off with Cam firing back at recent Jim drama. Lately, Jones has been taking shots at Cam and Mase’s old friendship, plus claiming he “did a lot” for both Cam and 50 Cent. During a chat with Justin Laboy, Jones even said Cam “couldn’t pull nothing together” and “couldn’t do nothing with him.”
Cam jumped on Monday’s show wondering “what the fuck” his former Dipset member’s been talking about.
“You’re from the Bronx, bro,” he stated. “You ain’t from Harlem. … I never came up with you.”
Then Cam dropped what he says is the real story of how Jones landed in the Diplomats, saying there was some serious “dick-riding” going down in the early 2000s. He told viewers to check out some old freestyles, including a 12-minute Children of the Corn joint.
“Were you anywhere around? Nah, na,” Cam fired off. “You weren’t there, man. You weren’t there, na. Here’s what really went down with him getting cool with us. Those freestyles we just showed you all, hit up Google and check them out when you can. We were buzzing. No internet back then. … We were mega-hot in the streets before the internet hit. Everyone knew we were about to land a deal.”
Cam says Jones came up to him one day hyping up those freestyles and invited him to kick it at his place after his grandma passed. According to Cam, he and his crew thought the invite was weird, but Jones kept praising their freestyles and pushing for them to come through.
“Yeah, I’d hit his spot to smash some chicks, maybe bring some crack,” Cam admitted, but noted he was “at everybody’s crib” back then and “never needed a place to crash.” He doubled down, calling Jones straight up a “fan” of his work, which is how he ended up rolling with them.
“You were a fan, na,” he said flat out. “You begged to get in. You’re a fan, na. A fan! We didn’t grow up together.”
According to Cam, Jones got in by “fanning out,” and pointed out how Mase’s impact on Jones is clear as day.
“Mase literally showed you how to rap,” he said before rolling clips of Jones himself giving Mase props for teaching him.
“We taught you everything about rapping, n***a,” Cam added. “How you running the whole thing? How you made Diplomats? You ain’t create any of this. You were just a fan. I brought you in ’cause you had a free spot and seemed cool. That’s the real story. Period.”
Wrapping up his Jones talk, Cam made it clear he’s done with the drama and isn’t trying to “degrade” Jones. Actually, he’s planning to take the high road from here.
“It’s 2025. Why are we even on this?” Cam said, adding that he’s “wishing Jones the best” going forward.
Meanwhile, Mase was just chilling, munching popcorn from a Regal Cinemas bucket during Cam’s whole speech. Peep the full video above.
At the time of this report, Jones hasn’t responded to the It Is What It Is segment.
