Drake Sues UMG for Defamation Over “Not Like Us” Track

Drake’s got new beef with UMG, hitting them with a full defamation lawsuit over Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” diss, TMZ reports Wednesday.

Court papers seen by Complex show Drake’s team arguing UMG knew exactly what was in the Grammy-nominated track’s lyrics, bringing back claims from earlier petitions.

Basically, Drake’s squad says UMG pushed the track hard for cash and potential deal talks.

The 81-page New York filing against UMG Recordings kicks off with a Lucian Grainge quote, then details three scary May 2024 incidents at Drake’s Toronto home – including one with “an armed group of assailants” and another where someone “used his bare hands to dig a hole under the security fence.”

“In the two decades leading up to May of 2024, although Drake was constantly in the public eye, nothing remotely like these events had ever happened to him or his family,” the lawyers state. “But these events were not coincidental. They immediately followed, and were proximately caused by, UMG’s actions leading up to and on May 4, 2024.”

“Drake is not a pedophile,” the docs declare. “Drake has never engaged in any acts that would require he be ‘placed on neighborhood watch.’ Drake has never engaged in sexual relations with a minor. Drake has never been charged with, or convicted of, any criminal acts whatsoever.”

We’ve hit up Drake’s team and UMG for comment. More updates might drop.

This hits after Drake pulled back one of his pre-action petitions about the track, which had K-Dot spitting lines like “Tryna strike a chord and it’s probably A minor” and “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”
