Lil Baby Claims Link-up With Future, Young Thug Brings Back ‘Old Feeling’

The secret sauce behind Lil Baby’s new banger “Dum, Dumb and Dumber” was getting back in the booth with Young Thug.

Chatting with Complex’s Jordan Rose for a fresh digital cover, Lil Baby spilled that they linked up right after Thug got out of jail in November. Thug had just wrapped up Georgia’s longest-running case ever – the YSL Records trial – where he copped to gang, gun, and drug charges.

But according to Lil Baby, Thug jumped right back into his groove like he never left.

“It might’ve been our second or third day in the studio since Young Thug had been home. Everybody was in the studio,” he shared with Complex. “We got food, we got chefs coming and bringing us everything. Malls coming to us, we got them bringing us clothes. It is like that old feeling again, like when I first came home.”

Turns out Lil Baby’s done time himself – including a two-year stretch when he was just 19 for breaking probation.

“On my first day when I got out, I think Thug was in London, and in three days they came back from London,” Lil Baby remembered. “As soon as they came back, I went to the studio with them. I wasn’t rapping or nothing, but I got that same feeling, that same energy.

“Everybody was at the studio. And now it’s the same thing for Thug. I’m one of the ones happy to see him. Glad he came home. Everybody gave him gifts, everybody uplifting him, trying to put everything he went through behind him. So it was just great energy. It was like love again.”

While “Dum” wasn’t their first studio session after Thug’s release, Lil Baby says having his boy back “feels amazing.”

“That was a big part of what I was going through in these past two years, too,” he opened up. “Even though it happened to Thug, I feel like it could have happened to me.”

Lil Baby revealed he spent 10 solid days in the studio with Thug, and dropped the news that he’s cooking up collab albums with both Thug (who just dropped Business Is Business) and Future, who also spits on “Dum.”

“We’ve been in the studio together [every day] almost since he came home,” Lil Baby shared about his time with Thug. “So we got tons of songs. Just that one on WHAM, though. I could have done more. I ain’t want to OD it anyway. I’m the first person to have a Young Thug verse since he’s been out. So I didn’t want to just overdo him anyway.”
