Busta Rhymes has got some legal drama brewing.
The New York Post reports the star showed up to police Tuesday after allegedly roughing up his 50-year-old assistant days earlier. Sources say it went down Jan. 10 at Brooklyn’s J Condominium, where Busta – real name Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. – supposedly got mad at his employee for being on the phone while working.
Cops say things got heated fast, with Busta allegedly landing multiple punches to the left side of his assistant’s face.
Sources told TMZ that Busta took off after the alleged attack, letting the victim, Dashiel Gables, call 911. Emergency crews came to the condo and took Gables to get checked out.
Busta’s now facing three charges: misdemeanor assault in the 3rd degree, attempted assault, and harassment. He got a desk appearance ticket, meaning he’ll have to face these charges in court.
When the Post reached out to Gables Thursday, he kept it tight-lipped, saying his lawyers told him to stay quiet.
“Maybe later. Maybe in the future,” he told them. “I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.”
