Method Man has shot down rumors about beating up his daughter’s former boyfriend at a Staten Island fitness spot.
“Mr. Smith categorically denies the allegations as reported and has not been the subject of an arrest by any law enforcement agency,” his team told Billboard.
The New York Post reported that the 53-year-old Wu-Tang star allegedly got into it at Crunch Fitness on Thursday. Police sources told them the rapper – real name Clifford Smith – supposedly hit a guy “seven times” with a closed fist.
The source kept quiet about what sparked it all but mentioned it had something to do with the 28-year-old victim’s past relationship with Method Man’s daughter. The Post says this relationship happened over ten years ago. Word is the guy complained about feeling dizzy and face pain after but didn’t want medical help.
While The Post’s video claimed Method Man got “booked,” an NYPD spokesperson told Complex they’ve got no record of arresting him. Neither the rapper nor his crew have spoken up about it yet.
Complex is trying to get Method Man’s side of the story.
This buzz comes just months after Method Man got real about his mental health battles and dealing with depression.
“It never really goes away,” the Power Book II actor shared on Fat Joe’s show back in October 2024. He stressed how crucial it is to check up on your people since you never know what’s going on in their lives.
“When you get a thought like, ‘Damn, I wonder what this person’s doing,’ act on it,” he added. “Call them, see how they doing or find some way to get in contact with them. It never hurts. You have no idea how much that could mean to them.”
