Damson Idris Shuts Down Claims He Turned Down ‘Black Panther’ Part

Damson Idris had some fun on social media clapping back at someone who spread rumors about him rejecting the Black Panther role.

It started when someone on X posted: “@DamsonIdris purportedly turned down the role of Black Panther. He would have been perfect for it too. Oh well.”

Idris hit back with some playful sarcasm: “Yes sir. I turned down 007, a co-lead film with Daniel Day-Lewis and an Eddie Murphy biopic too,” adding an upside-down smiley face for extra sass.

Reports were going around that Idris was one of three stars who supposedly passed on playing Prince T’Challa in an upcoming Black Panther film, along with David Oyelowo and John Boyega.

Funny enough, his joke about turning down an Eddie Murphy role hits different since he actually told Good Morning America in 2022 that he’d love to play the comedy legend.

These days, Idris is fresh off working with Brad Pitt in F1. He told Vanity Fair about his first day filming at the 2023 British Grand Prix: “I look to my left, it’s Brad Pitt. I look to my right, it’s Javier Bardem. I look at my hands, they’re shaking,” Idris shared. “And we shoot all of this epic stuff and all the amazing drivers are there, from Lewis [Hamilton] to [Max] Verstappen to everyone.”

He also gushed about working with Pitt: “Talk about a superstar,” he said. “His humility is second to none. I don’t know if people know this, but he is really good behind that car. Really good. Too good almost. He makes me nervous how good he is.”
