Dave Chappelle Urges Trump to Show Compassion: ‘Whether They’re in the Palisades or Palestine’

Dave Chappelle hit the Saturday Night Live stage again, and his opening speech got everyone buzzing online. Check it out below.

When Chappelle hosted SNL on Saturday, Jan. 18, he dropped some real talk about the Israel-Palestine situation and L.A.’s wildfires, with a special message aimed at Donald Trump before he takes office.

“To Donald Trump, I know you watch the show. Man, remember: whether people voted for you or not, they’re all counting on you. Whether they like you or not, they’re all counting on you. The whole world is counting on you. Know this when I say this, good luck. Please do better next time.”

He pushed for “empathy” too, saying, “Don’t forget your humanity, & have empathy for displaced people, whether they’re in the Palisades or Palestine.”

People clowned Chappelle’s fit when he showed up in the episode promos with SNL cast member Marcello Hernández and GloRilla. His sleeveless suit jacket had fans saying he looked like everything from WWE’s Virgil to bodybuilder Tony Atlas to a Vegas stripper.

Chappelle first hosted SNL back in 2016 after taking a break from the spotlight. That performance landed him an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. He came back to host in November 2020 and again in 2022. His latest appearance stirred up drama over jokes he made about the Jewish community, antisemitism, and Black America.
