Chappell Roan Claims She’d Have More Fame If She’d ‘Be OK Wearing a Muzzle’

The Grammy nominee Chappell Roan thinks keeping quiet would’ve made her bigger in the industry.

She recently told BBC about dealing with fame, following viral moments where she stood up to stalker fans and a disrespectful photographer.

“I was looking around, and I was like, ‘This is what people are OK with all the time? And I’m supposed to act normal? This is not normal. This is crazy’,” Roan shared about these experiences.

But she’s sticking to her guns about protecting her space. “I’ve been responding that way to disrespect my whole life – but now there are cameras on me, and I also happen to be a pop star, and those things don’t match. It’s like oil and water,” she explained.

The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer cracked that being submissive would’ve meant being treated like a pet.

“I think, actually, I’d be more successful if I was OK wearing a muzzle,” Roan said. “If I were to override more of my basic instincts, where my heart is going, ‘Stop, stop, stop, you’re not OK’, I would be bigger.”

She continued, “I would be way bigger… And I would still be on tour right now.”

Roan, who’s gotten props from Daniel Craig for calling out toxic fan culture, posted on Instagram last August about not putting up with creepy behavior.

“I don’t care that it’s normal,” she wrote. “I don’t care that this crazy type of behavior comes with the job, the career field I’ve chosen. That does not make it ok. That doesn’t make it normal.”
