Keanu Reeves Revealed as Voice Behind the Lumon Building in ‘Severance’

Keanu Reeves keeps adding to his already impressive acting resume. Think about it – from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure to Point Break, Speed, The Matrix, and now the John Wick series. He’s stayed relevant through different eras, and now he’s making waves with a sneaky but meaningful role in Apple TV+’s Severance.

This story (originally from Collider, heads up) might contain some spoilers if you’re not caught up, but it confirms what some fans thought during the Season 2 premiere: that voice coming from the Lumon building? Yep, that’s Keanu.

“We always wanted it to be somebody that people have certain associations with, but also, it had to be a very warm presence,” creator Dan Erickson told Collider’s senior TV editor Carly Lane about Keanu’s voice cameo as the Lumon building in the episode “Hello, Ms. Cobel.”

Erickson revealed they looked at different options for the role, but Reeves seemed perfect. The creator pointed to the “friendliness” and “heart” in “that particular voice.”

The Ben Stiller-directed episode features employees watching “Lumon Is Listening,” a video that perfectly pokes fun at the kind of corporate jargon we all deal with daily.

“Oh, hi! You probably don’t recognize me from this angle,” Reeves says as the Lumon building in the fake training video. For the rest, you’ll need to watch the show yourself – and trust us, it’s worth it.

This isn’t Reeves’ first voice acting rodeo – he’s brought Duke Caboom to life in Toy Story 4 and recently voiced Shadow in the third Sonic movie.
