The 2025 Oscar nominations are finally dropping after several delays.
Rachel Sennott (Saturday Night) and Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) will co-host Thursday’s announcement, which was pushed back because of the devastating L.A. area fires. These fires have claimed at least 28 lives and destroyed thousands of buildings. If you want to help those affected, here’s how.
Focus Features might score its first Best Picture win with Conclave, which Oscar experts have been calling a sure thing. The Substance, the new body horror film starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley in stunning performances, is also likely to shake up that category.
Director Coralie Fargeat’s film stands out from everything else eligible for 2025, delivering a powerful punch with its unsettling vibe, made even more impressive by its use of practical effects over CGI.
“Our members always share how important it is for us to come together as a community, and we are determined to use this opportunity to celebrate our resilient and compassionate industry,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang shared in a joint statement this month. “We also look forward to honoring our frontline workers who have aided with the fires, recognizing those impacted, and encouraging people to join the Academy in supporting the relief efforts. We will get through this together and bring a sense of healing to our global film community.”

There’s also hope for Pamela Anderson to get recognized for her stellar performance in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, currently playing in theaters.
The 97th Academy Awards will air March 2 on ABC and Hulu, with first-time Oscar host Conan O’Brien running the show.
