NLE Choppa paused his Paris Fashion Week activities to clap back at critics who accused him of queerbaiting when his Playgirl photoshoot picture blew up online.
The rapper fired back on Sunday at someone who called him out for “gay baiting,” stating he was just “showing freedom” by being confident and comfortable with himself.
From his hotel bathroom, Choppa took to video to dive deeper into the situation.
“I just feel like narratives get painted because I don’t care so much,” he explained. “But do not say that I’m a gay baiter because I’m comfortable enough to show off the perfection that God has orchestrated over my physical, my mental, my spiritual, and even my emotions.”
“I am not a gay baiter because I posted a selfie in the mirror showing off how beautiful I am,” Choppa went on. “I am not a gay baiter if I post a picture showing off how much God has blessed from below the waist with something that got women going crazy. I am not a gay baiter because, in [my] Playgirl shoot, I show a piece of my ass. I can’t show a piece of my own ass without being called a name? It’s my ass!”
The young rapper, 22, even admitted he’d stroll out of his hotel in his birthday suit if it wouldn’t land him in handcuffs.
Choppa’s dealt with questions about his sexuality before, always circling back to his self-love message. “I understand me being in love with myself as a BLACKMAN is so RARE to the point that some people try putting the homosexual jacket on my name,” the Memphis artist posted on X after dropping “Slut Me Out 2.”
He made it clear: “But with all due respect, I love ALL, but my intimacy lies with women only.”
When folks came at him for wanting to perform “Slut Me Out 2” at a Pride event to support the LGBTQ community, Choppa stood his ground about knowing himself.
“I’m secure, I know who I am,” he posted. “Show love[,] it won’t hurt and also you do know women are a part of the LGBTQ community right[,] you gone hate them too?”
