Dr. Dre Cuts Off Support for Drake After Family Diss at Kendrick: ‘That Made Me Say, “Ah, Adios!”‘

Dr. Dre’s taking Kendrick’s corner in this one.

On the first episode of The Unusual Suspects With Kenya Barris and Malcolm Gladwell, when Barris brought up the Drake-Kendrick drama and K.Dot’s hit “Not Like Us,” Dre didn’t hold back.

“I love that record,” Dre shared with Billboard. “I’ma say this on camera. I don’t want to get negative. My whole shit is about being positive and moving forward and all that shit, but the fact I heard Drake say something negative about Kendrick’s wife and his kids, that made me say, ‘Ah, adios!'”

During their heated exchange, Drake dropped some heavy accusations about Lamar’s family life in tracks “Push Ups,” “Family Matters,” and “The Heart Part 6,” suggesting abuse toward Whitney Alford and claiming Dave Free fathered one of their children.

Worth noting: Dre has his own dark history with violence against women. Journalist Dee Barnes has repeatedly called him out for attacking her at a Hollywood party in 1991 after she covered the N.W.A and Ice Cube beef.

“Any man that puts his hands on a female is a fucking idiot,” Dre admitted in a 2017 HBO doc. “He’s out of his fucking mind, and I was out of my fucking mind at the time. I fucked up, I paid for it, I’m sorry for it, I apologize for it.”

Already backing K.Dot, Dre popped up at Lamar’s Pop Out show last June to intro “Not Like Us,” which Kendrick then played five times straight.

Fresh off his chart-topping GNX album, Compton’s finest is now prepping for his big Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show performance in New Orleans this February.
