Solange Drops New Short Film ‘Shakersss.mov’

Solange Knowles is back with some fresh visuals.

The multitalented creator revealed her new VHS short film, Shakersss.mov, will hit the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, running from Feb. 16 to May 4 as part of the American Gurl: home—land exhibition. The 38-year-old takes the helm both behind and in front of the camera for this self-shot eight-minute piece.

The Shakersss website describes this piece as a “moving liturgy of praise expressed through reverence for self, God, and the exalted mother Yemaya, emphasizing our profound connection to water and its vital role in existence.”

Solange dropped a heartfelt message to viewers about how water ties into her film.

“Hold on to the people, places, and things that make you feel seen, held, and safe! And hold on to yourself when the tide is low,” she shared on the website.

“I made this lil film Shakersss for absolutely no reason other than a reminder to myself that light always reveals itself, and if you water the questions enough, answers will rise within you with unshakable faith.”
