Beyoncé described it as “very surreal” to finally score Album of the Year after racking up dozens of Grammy wins.
Like we saw Sunday night, her album Cowboy Carter – part two of what looks to be a trilogy from the 35-time Grammy champ – snagged the AOTY prize at the 2025 show. She beat out some heavy hitters, including killer albums from Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, and others.
Chatting with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier after her win, Beyoncé shared her thoughts on the long-awaited victory and how everyone from press room folks to fellow artists reacted.
“It’s very surreal,” she shared in the clip below. “It’s been 25 years of just working really hard and trying my best to keep growing and keep opening up doors. So I’m just very honored, very honored. I’m happy that my daughter got to see that. … I’m so happy that she was here. And Rumi, who was on the album, my youngest daughter, she was watching. I forgot to thank her so I get to thank her now.”
When Frazier brought up how she influenced featured artists like Rhiannon Giddens, whose banjo and viola shine on “Texas Hold ‘Em,” Beyoncé talked about the banjo’s rich history and how pumped she was to spotlight it.
“The banjo has a deep history, and I just feel honored to reintroduce some of that history that I think has been lost and very honored that I got the response and the open heart and people welcomed the album,” she shared. “The love I got from the country community tonight really made me feel so seen. I’m very grateful.”

Beyoncé dominated the nominations Sunday with 11 nods, walking away with three wins to hit 35 total Grammys. Besides Album of the Year, she took home Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Miley Cyrus for “II Most Wanted” and Best Country Album.
