Kendrick Lamar just scored Record of the Year at the Grammys for his Drake takedown track “Not Like Us.”
K-Dot beat out some serious heavyweights, including Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Chappell Roan, Charli xcx, Billie Eilish, The Beatles and Sabrina Carpenter.
Rocking head-to-toe denim and flanked by Mustard, Kendrick was beaming as he grabbed his trophy.
“First off, gotta give it up to the most high. We made it to see another day,” he kicked off his speech.
“This one’s extra special – my auntie Shannon left us yesterday. May she rest in paradise.”
Kendrick then showed major love to his hometown spots, shouting out Compton, Watts, Long Beach, Inglewood, Hollywood, the Valley and beyond. “These are my stomping grounds that had my back since I was just a kid, grinding in the studio to craft the dopest rhymes and make tracks like this. I’ll never be able to thank these places enough – been riding through these streets since my high school days.”
