ASAP Rocky opens up about Kendrick Lamar snagging the Best Music Video Grammy over him

ASAP Rocky missed the Grammys but still felt the sting when his “Tailor Swif” visual didn’t snag Best Music Video.
The Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia-directed clip got Rocky his second shot at Best Music Video and third Grammy nomination overall, but Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free’s co-directed “Not Like Us” took the prize. Rocky kept it simple on Twitter Feb. 2, dropping a “[broken heart emoji] maybe next time.”

“Tailor Swif” was up against some serious contenders in the category, including Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s “Fortnight,” Eminem’s “Houdini,” and Charli XCX’s star-packed “360.” Though “Not Like Us” ended up dominating the night, scooping up all five awards it was nominated for.
Rocky’s last Grammy nod came back in 2016 when “LSD” was up for Best Music Video. Funnily enough, he lost that one to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” featuring – you guessed it – Kendrick Lamar. Talk about a small world.
Neither Rocky nor Rihanna, who share two kids together, made it to the Grammys this time around. While Rihanna hasn’t hit up the ceremony since 2018, Rocky’s probably got bigger things on his mind – he’s dealing with an assault trial in LA. He’s facing two charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm over an alleged shooting in 2021, though he says he’s not guilty.
