‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ drops first look with The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan starring in upcoming thriller

Hold onto your seats – we’ve got our first wild peek at Hurry Up Tomorrow, a mind-bending thriller sharing its name with what might be 2025’s most talked-about album.
Lionsgate just dropped a trailer Tuesday showing Abel Tesfaye (you might still know him as The Weeknd) leading an all-star cast with Golden Globe nominee Jenna Ortega and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan.
The preview teases some dark vibes around Tesfaye’s musician character, with Keoghan (looking like either a cutthroat manager or professional hanger-on) telling him he’s “fucking invincible.” Things get weird when Ortega’s character apologizes to Abel while he realizes he’s been tied to a bed.
“I’m not trying to hurt you,” she says.
Echoing what we’re all thinking watching this mind-trip of a trailer, Abel’s character asks: “What the fuck is going on?”
Hurry Up Tomorrow comes from Trey Edward Shults, the brain behind Waves and It Comes at Night, and hits theaters exclusively May 16. Lionsgate also shared some first looks from the film earlier this week. Check them out below.

Tesfaye, who helped write and produce this film, already dipped his toes in Hollywood with HBO’s The Idol and played himself in the Safdie brothers’ Uncut Gems alongside Adam Sandler back in 2019.
The Weeknd shocked everyone at the Grammys this weekend, showing up after Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. addressed the four-time winner’s past beef with the awards show.
“As we’ve seen tonight, music is a powerful force for good in the world,” Mason Jr. said during Sunday’s LA ceremony. “It heals us. It unites us. And we need that in this city right now.”
