Playboi Carti has hit back at Kai Cenat’s public push for new tunes.
During a Grammys red carpet chat with Access Hollywood’s guest digital star Zach Sang, Cenat got real about what he thinks 2025’s music scene is lacking. Around 52 seconds into the clip below, things got interesting.
“You know what we missing? The Playboy Carti album. He needs to drop, for real. Carti gotta drop. I know Carti gonna see this,” the 23-year-old streamer declared, before locking eyes with the camera. “Carti just drop. I’m on national TV. Drop, gang, you feel what I’m saying?”
“So yeah, that’s who we missing,” he went on. “In my world, a lot of people need that. So we need to make sure that happens. Hell yeah.”
And guess what? Carti actually caught wind of Cenat’s message.
From his Opium profile, the artist reshared Cenat’s clip with these words: “IT DONT MATTER WHO SAID IT IT WAS SAID U CANT PAY FOR THAT #IAMMUSIC HE AINT HAVE TO DO THAT ! EITHER RESPECT.”
The much-anticipated new project from Carti, likely named I Am Music, would mark his first full release since Whole Lotta Red dropped in 2020.
While we don’t know if they’ll end up on the album, he’s been keeping fans fed with several singles since 2023, including “Ur the Moon,” “BACKR00MS” featuring Travis Scott, “EVILJ0RDAN,” and “Ketamine.”
