Lil Wayne Reveals When ‘Tha Carter VI’ Drops Through Cetaphil Commercial

Lil Wayne’s dropping the long-awaited Tha Carter VI this summer.

The announcement came through a Cetaphil commercial titled “We’re all a Lil Sensitive,” where Wayne turns his Super Bowl LIX halftime show snub in his hometown New Orleans into something positive.

After being hit with “It’s a different direction this time,” Wayne uses the skincare brand’s moisturizers to bounce back and starts helping others deal with their own sensitive moments.

When the ad wraps up, Wayne passes on VIP game tickets, saying “Nah. This is time sensitive.” The scene ends with him putting headphones on as a door shuts.

The door’s got a sign that reads, “Do not disturb ’til 06-06-25. CARTER VI.”

Wayne’s last Tha Carter album – number five – came out in 2018. Since then, he’s dropped other projects like Welcome 2 Collegrove with 2 Chainz and The Fix Before Tha VI, both landing in 2023.

He’s been teasing Tha Carter VI for a while now, including at the 2022 Young Money Reunion Concert.

The announcement’s timing hits on Feb. 6, marking the first of two Lil Wayne days – a title Master P gave him as New Orleans’ entertainment ambassador during last November’s Lil Weezyana Fest.

The Cetaphil spot’s set to run just in New Orleans during Super Bowl LIX Sunday.

“What attracted me to this project was the chance to flip the script,” Wayne told Rolling Stone about the commercial. “Showing a sensitive side isn’t a weakness—it’s a power. There’s nothing more real than turning those types of moments into a display of strength.”

He added, “This campaign made perfect sense to me. The world knew I was disappointed, but what they didn’t know was that it made me determined to deliver something way bigger.”
