Hits from Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Chappell Roan could help you save someone’s life.
The American Heart Association shared on Instagram that these Grammy winners’ songs have the perfect beat for hands-only CPR, which needs chest compressions between 100 and 120 beats per minute.
Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-sweeping track “Not Like Us,” with its 101 beats per minute rhythm, matches this lifesaving tempo.

The American Heart Association points out that Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” from her Album of the Year winner Cowboy Carter hits 110 beats per minute, while Best New Artist Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” clocks in at 107 – both perfect for CPR timing.
Though these musical tips might seem fun, they’re actually super serious business.
There’s proof it works: back in 2019, Cross Scott, just 21, saved a woman’s life using CPR he picked up from watching The Office – specifically, the scene where Michael Scott does compressions to the Bee Gees’ “Stayin’ Alive.” That 1977 disco classic happens to have the exact right beat for CPR.
