Montana 700’s “Pipeline” went viral in Texas, earning him the nickname “Mr. Pipeline,” so getting fellow Dallas star BigXThaPlug on the remix was a no-brainer.
BigXThaPlug snaps on the heavy beat, dropping lines like “I done spent thousands on these shirts and I don’t even keep ’em on.”
The “Pipeline (Remix)” video is out now, featured on Montana 700’s latest mixtape 700 Reasons (Remain Solid/300 Entertainment), which includes features from Tee Grizzley, Hunxho, Peezy, and his regular collaborator Zillionaire Doe.
BigXThaPlug’s been blowing up lately. In a 2023 chat, he shared how jail time pushed him harder in music. “My mom got sick, my granny got sick, then I missed my son’s birthday,” he revealed. “The world keeps going on without you. Especially when it comes to my son, I want to be there every day.”
He also broke down why he’s hot outside Texas: “Everyone wants to be a drill rapper right now,” he explained. “Everybody wants to talk about killing and this and that and the jewelry and the chains. But I just came out and talked about nothing but my state and the greats from my state and people are responding really well. I’m thinking it’s just because it’s different.”
“Everybody wants to hear something different every now and then,” he added. “I switched it up and I did it.”
Now BigXThaPlug’s bigger than ever – his new album Take Care hit No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and his fanbase keeps growing.
Talking to Billboard recently, he shared his music philosophy: “I feel like for the past decade it’s been a lot of mumble rap. People not talking about nothing,” he said. “I’m talking about something. A lot of the older people who love music, that’s what they grew up on — actual substance. Here’s this young dude that sound old, but he on these young-old beats. I literally mixed everything up so everybody could love it.”
