R&B artist Teedra Moses spills that penning Christina Milian’s “Dip It Low” brought her a cool $5 million.
During a chat with Touré, the 48-year-old singer opened up about her publishing and songwriting journey. “I made five million on one song,” she revealed. Breaking down the money moves, she explained her massive earnings came from having total ownership. “It’s because I own 100%,” she shared. “It’s 200%— it’s weird in publishing. 100% publisher, 100% writer. I own my publishing too.”
Teedra shared how family helped her keep more cash, explaining, “My sister learned how to administer publishing so I didn’t have to pay somebody else to administer publishing.”
“Dip It Low” turned out to be Milian’s biggest hit from her 2004 album It’s About Time. The track soared to #5 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and UK charts, snagged a Grammy nom for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration in 2005, and went gold.
Things got heated last December when Moses faced backlash for backing R. Kelly. After naming his track “The Greatest Sex” as a top-five R&B song, saying “You can close your eyes and see everything he’s saying,” fans weren’t happy. She doubled down, calling Kelly “one of the greatest songwriters to ever live” and praised his range “across all fields.”
When one fan called her out, Moses fired back hard: “Fuck u u ugly bitch and I ain’t blocking you cuz I got time in the new yr to bless u with these words!!! You don’t know me! But those that do know what I’m about. Go play with ya support dog bitch don’t play with me! Coming on this app w dat bullshit. I will slap piss from u!!”
