Whoopi Goldberg’s not buying Stephen A. Smith’s take on Serena Williams’ Super Bowl LIX moment.
During Tuesday’s episode of The View, Goldberg took aim at Smith’s criticism. “Why wasn’t it, ‘Damn, Serena was great’? Why is it about some ex-boyfriend she hasn’t thought of?” Goldberg questioned around the 19:50-minute mark in the video above. “All you can think of is her ex-boyfriend?”
“She got a chance to do something she wanted to do, and she went and did it, and instead of saying, ‘Damn, that was kind of great,’ you’re bringing it back to some old stuff,” Goldberg continued. “Stop trying to always make it about somebody’s man.”
The tennis legend popped up during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show. During his Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” Williams rocked blue Chuck Taylors, a blue tennis skirt, and matching jacket, busting out the crip walk – seemingly throwing shade at the rapper she was rumored to date almost ten years ago.
Over on First Take, Smith didn’t hold back his disapproval. “If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass,” Smith said. “Cause clearly you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”
Drake apparently clapped back at Williams’ appearance by posting a pic on his @plottttwistttttt finsta showing him with Williams’ ex-agent, Jill Smoller.

The sports agent had a two-decade-long working relationship with Williams and was once apparently cool with Drake.
After the big game, a clip went viral showing Drake apparently throwing shade at Serena Williams for teaming up with his nemesis. But turns out the video of Drake talking about exes was actually filmed before Kendrick’s show, not after it went down.
