Fat Joe’s sharing his grief over losing someone he calls a “legend.”
The Bronx hip-hop icon took to Instagram Wednesday to announce that his father, Ernesto Delgado, passed away at age 89.
The emotional post featured family photos of his dad with Joe’s wife Lorena Cartagena and son Joey, 34. The rapper’s also dad to another son Ryan, 34, and daughter Azariah, 18.
“Sad to announce the passing of my Father ‘ERNESTO AKA CUBA’ papi te quero para siempre,” Fat Joe shared. “This has been tough, I’m not looking for sympathy, just Honoring my Dad. He’s a Legend in my eyes. To my Mom, Wife, Brothers and Sisters i love you and we’ll always be united.”
Back in October, Fat Joe got real on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast about being there for his kids, especially his oldest son who lives with Down syndrome and autism.
“I don’t know how to be a fake father,” Joe shared around 3:30 into the clip. “I got to take care of my kids regardless and do everything I can for them. I don’t know how to give up on my kids. I don’t know how to not love on my kids. That’s impossible.”
