Drake and Kendrick’s battle had everyone picking teams.
But 21 Savage stayed quiet through the drama. Drake gave him props for that loyalty on “Gimme a Hug,” a track from $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, where he compares himself to Neo dodging bullets in The Matrix.
“Savage, you the only n***a checkin’ on me when we really in some shit, brother,” Drake says.
Drake and 21 Savage’s bond runs deep – from their first collab “Sneakin'” back in 2016 to their hit album Her Loss in 2022. Their track record includes bangers like “Mr. Right Now” on Savage Mode II, “Knife Talk” on Certified Lover Boy, “Jimmy Cooks” on Honestly, Nevermind, and most recently, “Calling for You” on For All the Dogs.
When “Like That” dropped on Metro and Future’s We Don’t Trust You album and sparked the Drake-Kendrick beef, folks expected 21 to pick sides, especially given his tight connections with both Metro and Drake.
But 21 kept it neutral. During an IG Live last May, he shut down the beef talk real quick: “Don’t keep coming on to my muthafucking Live talking about no muthafucking beef,” Savage said. “Metro my brother and Drake my brother. Those n***as going to figure that shit out eventually.”
