Gillie Da Kid’s saying Drake taking an L from Kendrick Lamar is just like when LeBron James came up short in the NBA Finals.
The podcast host got real about it during his chat with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, where they dived into how Kendrick came out on top in this rap battle.
When Shannon Sharpe started talking like Drake was finished, Gillie stepped in to defend him, comparing the rap battle to WNBA stats.
“You think he a bigger artist than Drake — so why does it matter?” said Gillie. “He lost a rap battle. That’s like LeBron James losing an NBA Finals. He’ll be cool — next year, he’ll be back.”
“Even if you look at their stream snow, even with (Lamar) winning five Grammys, his streams don’t match Drake’s streams.”
Gillie then busted out his Drake impression to show how unbothered the mega-rich rapper probably is. “You can’t bruise my ego — I got my own plane man,” said Gillie as Drake. “I’m about to hop on my plane. Fuck my ego. I’ll buy a new one.”
Bringing up old school beef to make his point, Gillie added: “Imagine if Jay-Z’s ego was destroyed,” said Gillie, referencing his spat with Nas. “He never would have been able to bounce back.”
The Drake-LeBron comparison hits different since these two aren’t exactly besties right now. Drake switched up his “Nonstop” lyrics in Perth from “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” to “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man.” after dropping a track that seemed to call out James.
LeBron then showed Kendrick some love before his Super Bowl LIX halftime show, posting “HE GONE KILL THAT!!!! CAN’T WAIT.” on his Instagram story.
Last month, Charlamagne Tha God and Andrew Shulz got into it about Drake and James’ beef, with Charlamagne pointing out Drake’s Fighting Irish tattoo for James, suggesting Drake might be “into people more than they’re into him.”
Back to Gillie’s interview – he dropped a bombshell, claiming Noah Scurry, the Philly teen basketball star killed in January, was behind his son YNG Cheese’s death.
