Michael Mejia, who won Shakira’s Lamborghini contest giveaway, is looking to sell the luxury ride.
Back in November, the famous Colombian superstar revealed she’d be giving her custom 2022 Lamborghini Urus to someone who created a social media video for her latest track, “Soltera.”
Mejia, a Colombian-American artist born in New York City, snagged the win with a TikTok featuring his own Shakira illustrations alongside glimpses into his personal life.
In a fresh interview with Univision’s El Gordo y la Flaca, Mejia revealed he got the car just last week along with an extra $90,000 from Shakira to help cover taxes, title transfer fees, six months of insurance, and other legal expenses.
Despite this generous bonus from the singer, it still wasn’t enough to keep up with the luxury vehicle’s maintenance costs, and now Mejia is looking to part ways with it.

“I’ve had the car for four days, and I’ve put gas in it every other day. Two full tanks were $70 each,” Mejia told El Gordo y La Flaca‘s Tanya Charry, pointing out that the car is worth $230,000. “I was told that I could [make more money] if I sold the car off in parts, like the rear-view mirror, the tires, the steering wheel.”
“I didn’t expect car insurance to cost $2,000 a month, and that’s how much it is. With the money she gave me, the car will be covered for a while but it’s still super expensive to maintain,” he added. “Someone offered me, believe it or not, between 700 and 800,000 dollars. That’s amazing, but lots of people are telling me ‘Don’t sell it for less than one [million].'”
Mejia says he’s already gotten offers ranging from 700 to 800,000 dollars for the luxury ride, but claims people have advised him not to take anything under one to two million.
“I think that it’s everyone’s dream to have a million. If it’s one million and one dollars, I’ll be happy,” he joked with a laugh.
