Bob Dylan seems to dig Machine Gun Kelly. On Wednesday, Dylan posted a video on Instagram showing MGK performing his 2015 track “Almost” during a 2016 in-store appearance at Park Ave. CDs in Orlando, FL, according to Billboard. The music icon didn’t add any caption or explanation for sharing the clip.
The unexpected recognition left Kelly and his buddy, singer/producer Mod Sun, totally shocked as they jumped into the comments to share their reactions. “You having a phone is so rad,” Kelly wrote. Mod Sun chimed in with, “This is my favorite thing that’s ever happened on the internet.”
Kelly also shared his surprise on his IG Story. “WTF. This was not on my 2025 Bingo card,” he posted with a screenshot of Dylan sharing the video.
In a follow-up video, Kelly shared his shock about the situation.
“I’m in my conversation pit in my house having a whole discussion about, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Is this the right direction for this album? I’m questioning it. And in the same breath that I’m questioning it, someone goes, ‘Bob Dylan just posted a video of you.’ And I’m like, ‘There must be another Bob Dylan. Whatever.’
MGK went on, saying he was “grateful” for the unexpected recognition. “We got to his Instagram, he did post a video. I’m like…Just the originator of doing everything opposite of what people wanted him to do, randomly posting a video of me back in the day rapping in a vinyl shop,” he added. “I’m just like, ‘What the fuck?’ Just trust the signs, man. That was so cool. I’m so grateful. So random.”
Dylan’s internet presence has always been pretty unpredictable. His recent posts include honoring his departed bandmate Garth Hudson, sending birthday wishes to a mysterious “Mary Jo,” random thoughts about Nick Cave, and clips from The Twilight Zone TV series. Dylan’s heading back on tour starting May 25 in Tulsa, Oklahoma as part of his Rough and Rowdy Ways World Wide Tour.
