Big Sean Reveals Beyoncé Found ‘I Don’t F*ck With You’ Disrespectful, While Jay-Z Had Different Take

Big Sean recently shared that Beyoncé considered his track “I Don’t Fuck With You” disrespectful, but Jay-Z fully supported its release.

During his appearance on the St. Brown Podcast, Sean Don looked back on how the hit song came together. According to Sean, the track emerged from him just playing around in the studio, wanting to create something in the style of Too Short’s music.

Sean was working with Mustard, who crafted the beat, and began freestyling once he heard what the West Coast producer had made. However, Sean almost shelved the song until a visit to Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s home changed everything.

“I went to their house and was playing the song, and Beyonce was like, ‘That’s a little disrespectful, maybe you should put Nicki Minaj on it so there could be a female voice,’ and then Jay-Z was like, ‘Nah,'” Sean recalled. “As I heard it, he was like, ‘People are gonna get it that it is just you having fun,’ and then I remember I was getting texts from Hov, like, every day. He sent me a text one time that was like, ‘Every day you not putting that song out, you’re losing.'”

Sean mentioned he still wasn’t sure about releasing the track, but once he dropped it and saw people’s immediate response, he knew he’d made the right call. “I Don’t Fuck With You” came out in September 2014 featuring E-40. The song appears on Sean’s third album, Dark Sky Paradise, and climbed to No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Big Sean’s third highest-charting hit.
