Tory Lanez gives a major shoutout to Chris Brown on his fresh album, Peterson, for backing him financially during his legal battles.
On the track “T.D.F x LA County Jail,” Lanez shows appreciation for Brown with the lyric, “Where was you ni**as when I was in Cali fucked up with no covers to bundle up / Only real ni**a that helped me was Chris Brown, thats really my brother, bruh.”
On the track “Free Tory,” Lanez explains exactly how much Brown helped him when he was really in a tough spot. “I had no real, like, access to my funds,” he says. “I was fed up. And my lawyer wanted over, like, a quarter million to represent me for the appeal.”
“So, you know, I started hollering at all my rap friends, my celebrity friends, and nobody was there,” Lanez continues. “Nias treating me like I was dead and this nia Chris Brown, I’ll never forget it. This ni**a Chris Brown came out of nowhere, bro, he just gave me the money.”
Elsewhere on Lanez’s new album, he recalls his relationship (though he doesn’t specify what kind of relationship it was) with Iggy Azalea, begging her to get in touch with him. “It be nights I want to talk to Iggy, but she blocked me,” he sang. “Amethyst, if you ever hear this shit, shawty, call me/You know that I’m always makin’ spicy bitches salty.”
After that, Lanez apologized for any harm he’s caused her — and also admitted he really misses her physical presence. “I miss when you wrapped around my body like a tall tee/ New me come correct because the old me was the wrong me/ Old me cuss you out, the new me disrespect you calmly,” he sang.
On another track, “Guide Me Through the Storm,” Lanez mentions Azalea again with the lines, “County jail crying real tears to Iggy Azalea / I know you put up with some shit that just wasn’t familiar / I loved your ear and loved your heart though you wasn’t Amelia / They lying, trying to get me fucked, but I wasn’t Cecilia.”
Tory Lanez has been behind bars since his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
