Ozuna acknowledges Bad Bunny as the current king of Latin music and sees his success as beneficial for everyone in the genre.
Speaking on Respectfully: The Justin Laboy Show, Ozuna noted how the Latin music throne changes hands periodically. The 33-year-old mentioned Ricky Martin’s reign around 1999-2000, followed by Daddy Yankee in the mid-2000s and then Wisin & Yandel.
Ozuna claimed he held the crown around 2015-2016, before Bad Bunny took over. While admitting the industry’s competitive nature, he clarified there’s no beef between them, even if their relationship is “not the best” currently.
“I don’t got [a] real relationship with him, but I can’t hate him because I don’t have time to hate,” Ozuna said about Bunny, noting they’re both from Puerto Rico and move in similar circles.
Ozuna takes pride in being one of the first major Latin artists to recognize Bunny’s talent.
“Of course because I was the first artist [to] collab with Bad Bunny was in ‘Diles,'” he shared. “I’m happy for that.”
He views Bad Bunny’s popularity as beneficial for everyone, saying Benito’s success is “good for me…That’s good for my music.”
