After boldly claiming he embodies music itself with the thrilling drop of his much-anticipated album, Playboi Carti capped off Rolling Loud California with a predictably high-octane performance Sunday night.
Streaming live during Carti’s set, Kai Cenat, accompanied by Young Dabo, received an ice-covered Young Vamp Life (YVL) chain directly from the MUSIC creator. The pair later got pulled onstage to join the excitement, culminating in a worldwide-broadcast encounter with surprise guest The Weeknd and Rolling Loud co-creator Tariq Cherif.
“This show is insane. Dude, he handed out his chain to people,” Cenat told his viewers before getting called to join Carti’s crew onstage. After leaving the photo area, Cenat grabbed the microphone to speak to the incredibly huge audience, as shown in footage Cenat shared himself.
After the festival-closing performance, Carti labeled Cenat “baby boi” in an update on his Instagram Stories. The Weeknd showing up during Carti’s set created a landmark moment in Rolling Loud’s ten-plus year history, as it was his first-ever appearance on the festival’s stage.

MUSIC, formerly anticipated as I AM MUSIC, delivered on nearly five years of buildup with a massive 30-track collection featuring three Kendrick Lamar appearances among other guest stars. The album’s extended, enigmatic promotion stands unmatched in recent music history. The strategy clearly paid off, with MUSIC set for a massive Billboard 200 debut after becoming this year’s most-streamed album in a single day on Spotify.
