Jess Hilarious recently confronted her Breakfast Club co-hosts on air after calling them out about her treatment following maternity leave.
During the latest episode, Jess said her return felt “weird” and admitted she “wasn’t too fond” of her temporary replacement Loren LoRosa still being there as an on-air personality. “Nobody has even tried to clear up the narrative that I’m a villain,” she complained, prompting Charlamagne Tha God to advise her to “stop listening to the internet,” especially YouTube comments.
DJ Envy questioned her approach: “If you had an issue, a problem, a situation or something that you felt, why you ain’t bring it to the team?” He reminded her that he had pulled her aside when she returned, saying “We have your back! … You are great at what you do.”
They were later joined by LoRosa, who admitted there are workplace issues at The Breakfast Club, though she found parts of Jess’ stream “crazy.” Both women discussed competing for airtime, with LoRosa objecting to being told to “shut up” by her co-host.
“I think y’all can work very well together and once again, you got to stop letting the internet pit y’all against each other,” Charlamagne added. “It’s Women’s History Month!”
In her initial Instagram Live, as reported by Baller Alert, Jess revealed she personally selected Loren LoRosa as her maternity leave replacement. “But when I came back, she was still there,” she said. “Nobody told me anything.” She suggested that Loren’s segment, “Loren with the Latest,” felt like it was replacing her own “Jess with the Mess.”
“In this industry, there’s never a right time to have a baby, so you just have them when you have them,” she added. She also criticized her co-hosts for not defending her against online trolls: “Not one person came to my defense. We’re supposed to be a team, but it doesn’t feel like that.”
Jess Hilarious joined The Breakfast Club as a permanent co-host in February 2024, over a year after Angela Yee left the show.
