Ye has been sparse with praise for his fellow artists lately.
But Tuesday, he showed appreciation for 50 Cent.
“50 Cent is one of my favorite people,” Ye tweeted. “He will be one of the people who brings back Black economic independence.”
However, 50 wasn’t thrilled about receiving recognition from the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
“Damn it Ye ya name dangerous right now, what you say about the kids man,” Fif wrote on Instagram, captioning a screenshot of Ye’s tweet.

50 Cent followed up with another Instagram post on Thursday, saying, “I didn’t post anything yesterday because @Ye said the kids are retarded. I can’t compete with that kinda sh!t, I’m listening to his album now !”

50 Cent is referencing Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s three children—Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter—whom Ye called the R-word in a now-deleted tweet. The album 50 mentions is Ye’s Bully project released Wednesday as a short film.
50 likely wants distance from Ye due to his recent chaotic social media behavior, which included concerning mental health comments and attacks on Playboi Carti, Tyler, the Creator, Kendrick Lamar, and others alongside Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
It’s also worth recalling that Ye previously called himself a Nazi and expressed “love” for Hitler before later retracting those statements.
Despite this, 50 Cent seems to have some empathy for Ye’s situation.
“I don’t think anybody’s been through more or have more reasons to fall apart than Kanye,” 50 told Billboard in October. “The success of his project [Graduation] comes, and his mom passes away. So what you been praying for—the gift is a curse. You lose that, and he had real reasons to fucking be out of it. He did the right thing. He went to work.”
