Boosie Badazz Faces Legal Threats Over Scholarship for Hazing Victim

Boosie Badazz is under legal threat after announcing a scholarship honoring Caleb Wilson, a 20-year-old who died from hazing last month.

The rapper revealed his scholarship plans during his Boosie Bash Festival at Southern University, claiming some proceeds would fund it. However, Wilson’s family never gave permission to use their son’s name.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill warned she’ll take legal action if Boosie proceeds, stating: “Caleb Wilson’s parents have advised me that they have not given consent and know nothing about their son’s name and image being used to promote this event. They didn’t even know the event was happening.” Murrill called using Wilson’s identity to promote a for-profit event “disgusting.”

Wilson’s parents had only preliminary talks with Boosie about a potential scholarship before he made the announcement.

Boosie fired back on X Monday: “Its sad for this Lawyer [and] family to say I promoted my event off someones passing. How the fuck can I capitalize off someone death for a concert. That Aint Me. I was ask to help the situation n thats what I was doing once I made it home. But for yall to say that yall are taking legal action against someone who is trying to help Yall is a slap n my face.”

Wilson, a Southern University student, died in February after allegedly being repeatedly punched in the chest during an off-campus fraternity pledging event. Three people—Kyle Thurman, Caleb McCray, and Isaiah Smith—have been arrested in connection with his death.
