Playboi Carti’s in a generous mood this week, already adding four extra tracks to his 30-song MUSIC album. Tuesday’s surprise drop, which will likely help secure a second week at #1 on the Billboard 200, came with the “official visualizer” for the deluxe edition’s final track “FOMDJ.”
In the visualizer for the song, which fans might recognize from last year’s ComplexCon teaser, Carti stands on top of a moving vehicle. As shown in a photo later shared on his Opium Finsta Instagram, I wasn’t the only one who immediately thought “Tom Cruise!” while watching.
“I WENT [TOM CRUISE],” Carti wrote in the caption. “NO EDIT DIS SHIT REAL MOVIN CAR ALL DAT YAAAAA.”
Although tagged in the Opium IG post, Cruise, who’s set to appear in the upcoming Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning this May, hasn’t yet responded to the comparison. Hopefully, the four-time Oscar nominee is tuned into the expanding MUSIC phenomenon like everyone else.
Currently, the album, Carti’s long-awaited follow-up to 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, sits at No. 1 in the country. On the Billboard 200, MUSIC tops recent chart-toppers including Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM, Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, and Tate McRae’s So Close to What.
Soon, MUSIC will hit the road when Carti joins The Weeknd for a stadium tour beginning in May.
