Lil Wayne’s youngest son, Lil Novi, created his own version of Playboi Carti’s “Like Weezy” from the new album MUSIC.
Earlier this week, Lil Novi posted a clip of himself rapping on the track, which got mixed reactions. Some people think Wayne’s 15-year-old shows promise in rap, while others weren’t impressed.
“Not bad for a little kid lmao,” one person tweeted. Another said, “Yeah, tell this n***a go to class.”
Someone else commented, “Nah he would carry Carti they did a ft together.”
Carti released his new album on March 14 through AWGE and Interscope Records. The project contains 30 tracks and features collaborations with Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Jhené Aiko, Skepta, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla Sign, and Young Thug.
The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, giving Carti his second chart-topper and third top 10 album, as his debut album Die Lit reached No. 3 in 2018. Carti added four more tracks to the album earlier this week and released a visualizer for “FOMDJ.” Play
Meanwhile, the Atlanta rapper disagreed with Billboard’s first-week sales report for MUSIC. According to Billboard, the album topped the 200 chart with 298,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S.
But Carti tweeted that his third studio album actually debuted at No. 1 with 320,000 equivalent album sales and thanked the Kurrco platform on X for sharing his post.
