Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, are on trial for allegedly scamming various individuals out of $1 million total. This week, the jury has heard testimony from witnesses and alleged victims.
According to Local 10, prosecutors brought witness Ariel Mateos to testify Tuesday about his dealings with Kingston, 34, and his mother, 61.
Mateos testified he sold the artist a massive 232-inch TV worth $115,000, which he started installing after getting a $30,000 down payment. After installation, he had months of text exchanges with Kingston, during which the artist reportedly sent fake wire transfer confirmations.
Mateos said he never received any additional money beyond the initial down payment, though Kingston’s defense team argued he agreed to promote Mateos and his business on social media.
NBC Miami reported that Kingston and his mother were seen holding Bibles while listening to witness testimony in court. When leaving the courthouse, they refused to comment, but Kingston said, “All my fans that supported, I love you guys.”
Kingston and his mother could face up to 20 years behind bars for allegedly conning people out of goods and services worth $1 million total. They were arrested last year when a SWAT team stormed Kingston’s Florida home and seized several allegedly stolen items. Both have entered not guilty pleas.
