Shortly after announcing his first live show since leaving prison, Young Thug fired back at a hater who tried to take him down a peg by saying he’s “not” Playboi Carti.
On Thursday, Thugger teased his eager fans waiting for new tracks. “Y’all mfers goin have to beg me to drop this shit nocizzy,” he posted.
A devoted Carti fan quickly replied, “U NOT CARTI LIL BRA.”
This comment likely referenced how Carti kept his highly anticipated album MUSIC under wraps for years before releasing it, making fans desperate for fresh content.
Either that, or the troll was simply trying to get under Thug’s skin, which is ironic considering Thugger actually appears on MUSIC.

In a quick comeback, Thug roasted the troll, writing, “I wonder who’s couch you’re on tweeting this.” The user then posted a lengthy apology that many suspected was AI-generated, though they kept their original tweet up.
“You are a trailblazer, a legend, and an artist whose influence has shaped the sound and culture of music in ways that go far beyond comparison,” the fan’s response read. “My words were thoughtless and fail to reflect the admiration I have for you and your craft.”
This fan interaction happened right after Thug revealed he’ll be headlining the final night of Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash festival in Chicago this June.
This performance will be his first major show since getting out of prison last October after spending two years locked up due to the YSL RICO case. While he hasn’t hinted at when new music might drop, his frequent partner Metro Boomin has already teased that a fresh Thugger album is in the works earlier this year.
