A federal judge has hit 6ix9ine with a $250,000 fine for breaking his contract when he bailed on a Howard University performance.
Court docs snagged by AllHipHop reveal that the U.S. District Court in Washington D.C. ordered the Brooklyn rapper to fork over compensatory damages after ghosting a sold-out show at Howard University’s 2018 homecoming celebration. Hits Before Fame LLC and After Hours LLC had already paid 6ix9ine around $60,000, locked him in with a contract, and even recorded a promo video for his appearance.
The Howard University event had raked in more than $165,000 in ticket sales, with over 3,000 fans showing up to see 6ix9ine perform. When the show got canceled, instead of sticking to his agreement, 6ix9ine popped up at Power 105’s yearly Powerhouse concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
The Howard event promoters also tried to nail him for defamation since 6ix9ine claimed he no-showed because he never got paid. The judge shot down this request, suggesting 6ix9ine might have been talking about his former manager, Shotti, pocketing the cash.
Recently, 6ix9ine posted a video of himself getting his ankle monitor taken off after finishing a 90-day house arrest. In the clip, he’s surrounded by two women while singing along to a new track before jumping into a pool nearby.
“I’m freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee,” 6ix9ine wrote in the caption.
