Lil Nas X shared that he almost worked with Taylor Swift on a track, but it didn’t pan out.
While chatting with E! News at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles last week, Lil Nas X explained how Swift offered him a chance to collaborate in the studio, but he couldn’t connect with the song, so he ended up declining.
“We were working on something,” Lil Nas X said. “She offered to let me try a verse on something, but I couldn’t catch a vibe for it, so it didn’t happen.”
Even though the collab fell through, Lil Nas X hasn’t ruled out working with Swift in the future, adding, “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-tay and Nassy.”
He also mentioned, “I’m proud of my girl. I love the album. She’s been doing her thing. She’s at the very tippety top. I’m thankful that she even considered me.”
Lil Nas X has been making his way back into the music scene lately with several new releases. He recently dropped Days Before Dreamboy, a surprise eight-track EP featuring recent songs like “Light Again,” “Need Dat Boy,” “Dreamboy,” “Big Dummy!,” “Swish,” “Hotbox,” and more.
The EP serves as a preview to Nas’ upcoming second album Dreamboy. Speaking with People at the GLAAD Media Awards, he shared his mindset for this new chapter of his career.
“I wanna be myself more than ever this era, the two-time Grammy winner said. “I want to be completely free out there, only doing the things that I wanna do. If I do not want to do it, I’m not doing it.”
He continued, “If I don’t want be there, I’m not gonna be there. I think it’s more important than ever to really stand in myself and my power and recognize where I’m taking my energy and where I don’t want to take it.”
